It's not easy to find references in the 1830, 1837 and 1840 editions of the Book of Mormon because they were not divided in to the Chapter and verse we're used to today. Orson Pratt created the LDS versification for the 1879 edition. The RLDS editions instead retained the original chapters but divided the text into verses.
